Reception of the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany 2017-02-21

On February 21, 2017, University of Foreign Languages, Hue University welcomed the delegation led by the German Ambassador to Vietnam Christian Berger. Welcoming the delegation on behalf of University of Foreign Languages, Hue University were Dr. Bao Kham, Party Committee Secretary - Rector; Dr. Nguyen Tinh, Vice Rector, and representative leaders of other units in the university.

 

Speaking at the meeting, Rector Bao Kham welcomed and thanked the Ambassador and his delegation for their visit to University of Foreign Languages, Hue University. Dr. Bao Kham was pleased to inform the Ambassador of the achievements in the university’s 10 years of establishment and development. Dr. Bao Kham emphasized that the cooperation between University of Foreign Languages, Hue University and Goethe Institute had been promoted, in which the initial move was sending two teachers from the university to a German language course in Hanoi. The Rector also hoped that the Ambassador would continue to show interests and support so that a German language program could be started at University of Foreign Languages, Hue University soon.

 

 

Ambassador Christian Berger expressed that it was their second visit to a tertiary institution, following University of Medicine and Pharmacy, with the wish to learn about the need for German language education not only in Hue but also in Central Vietnam in general. Having that in mind, the Ambassador and Dr. Bao Kham, as well as the delegation’s members exchanged very frankly about the prospect of cooperation between the university and the German Embassy in Vietnam in the coming time.

 

 

Immediately after the reception, Ambassador Christian Berger and his delegation visited the university’s Tradition Hall, where he left comments on the school's Golden Book. At the end of the visit, Ambassador Christian Berger planted a commemorative tree on the university's campus to mark his special visit to HU-UFL.
